And I&rsquo;m sure you&rsquo;ve had an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bowlofdelicious.com\/fresh-mozzarella-tomato-and-basil-sandwiches-with-balsamic-glaze\/\">Italian Caprese sandwich<\/a> with tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. But have you ever had the Greek version of a tomato sandwich with sliced feta cheese? It will swiftly become your new favorite kind of tomato sandwich! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What sets this sandwich apart this is the garlic-infused flavor. After the bread is toasted, while it&rsquo;s still warm, you&rsquo;ll drizzle olive oil on it and immediately rub the cut size of a clove of garlic on it. The flavor of the garlic infuses into the oil, enhanced by the heat still coming off of the toasted bread. I do this with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bowlofdelicious.com\/avocado-toast\/\">avocado toast<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bowlofdelicious.com\/fresh-mozzarella-tomato-and-basil-sandwiches-with-balsamic-glaze\/\">Caprese sandwiches<\/a> and it makes all the difference in the world!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ingredients-and-substitutions\">Ingredients and Substitutions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sliced Bread &ndash; <\/strong>whatever your favorite is <em>(I love <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daveskillerbread.com\/21-whole-grains-and-seeds-thin-sliced\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dave&rsquo;s<\/a>)<\/em>, something that you can stick in toaster to warm it up <em>(if using pita bread or something like that, you&rsquo;ll have to warm it in a skillet instead!).<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Feta cheese &ndash; <\/strong>make sure to buy chunk style, not crumbled. You&rsquo;ll slice it for this recipe! <em>(pro-tip: buying chunk style and crumbling it yourself is much better than pre-crumbled, in any case!).<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tomato &ndash; <\/strong>preferably an in-season, ripe, juicy tomato. If it&rsquo;s off-season, Campari tomatoes are pretty reliably flavorful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extra-virgin olive oil<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fresh garlic clove &ndash; <\/strong>you can use a sprinkling of garlic powder in a pinch, but a fresh garlic clove is preferable here.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dried oregano <\/strong>&ndash; or fresh can be used if you have it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sea salt and black pepper<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-make-a-feta-and-tomato-sandwich\">How to make a Feta and Tomato Sandwich<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>First, toast your bread. Not too toasty! Just enough to warm it up and get a little crunch going. Drizzle the bread with olive oil <strong>as soon as it comes out of the toaster while it&rsquo;s still warm. <\/strong>Immediately rub the cut side of a clove of garlic on top of the oil <em>(the warmth will infuse the garlic flavor throughout!)<\/em>. Sprinkle with dried oregano, then layer sliced feta and tomatoes on top of one slice of bread. Sprinkle on some sea salt and black pepper. Place the other piece of bread oil-side down on top of the assembled sandwich, and voil&agrave;! This can be achieved with pita bread or flatbread <em>(like naan or a wrap)<\/em>, but you&rsquo;ll need to warm it up using a different method than a toaster.
