It&rsquo;s THE THING and is super trendy with millennials and hipsters alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But honestly I don&rsquo;t get why it&rsquo;s such a &ldquo;trendy&rdquo; thing. It&rsquo;s just plain DELICIOUS if you ask me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avocado toast is a wonderful way to eat a vegan, plant-based meal or snack that&rsquo;s packed with the nutrients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&rsquo;s so much goodness in avocados, like healthy, monounsaturated fats <em>(the same you find in extra-virgin olive oil)&nbsp;<\/em>and lots of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whfoods.com\/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&amp;dbid=5\">vitamins and minerals<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, are avocados the COOLEST thing that grows in nature or what? It&rsquo;s like nature was like &ldquo;Here, I&rsquo;m going to give you something creamy like mayonnaise that grows on a tree and comes in the cutest little package and is super good for you. Let&rsquo;s talk more about it, shall we?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without further ado, here is my three-step program to achieving the perfect avocado toast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1:&nbsp;Drizzle the bread with olive oil and rub it with a clove of garlic.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Toast the bread in your toaster. I&nbsp;recommend using a good multi-grain bread from your grocery store&rsquo;s bakery, if available. Have them slice it for you if it doesn&rsquo;t come that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, IMMEDIATELY when it comes out of the toaster while it&rsquo;s still warm, drizzle each slice of bread with a little bit of extra-virgin olive oil and rub the surface of the bread with the cut side of a half a clove of garlic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will smell the garlic as the warmth of the bread heats it up slightly. Mmmmmm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The garlic adds just a&nbsp;<em>hint<\/em> of garlicky-ness to the avocado toast, without overpowering it. You get aromatic garlic flavor without the spicy sharpness of raw garlic. It&rsquo;s delightful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use the garlic later for other things if you want. No more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, mash some avocado with a fork on top of the garlic-rubbed bread. Then, add slices of the avocado on top. The mashed avocado serves as the glue that holds the slices on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Problem solved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To slice the avocado, I recommend using small paring knife to make slices in half the avocado while it&rsquo;s still in the peel. Cilantro optional.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>OK I&rsquo;m a bit avocado obsessed, I admit it. But you&rsquo;ll never- NEVER- catch me eating plain avocado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avocado is just one of those things that needs seasoning to bring out its flavors. Ever tried chicken broth without salt? It tastes like dirty dishwater. But sometimes I like to beef up my avocado toast&nbsp;<em>(often literally)<\/em> with some other things. Like&hellip;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bowlofdelicious.com\/avocado-and-chorizo-toast\/\">Avocado Toast with Chorizo<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/pinchofyum.com\/simple-poached-egg-avocado-toast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Poached Eggs and Avocado Toast<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesomefork.com\/2016\/09\/24\/garlic-mushroom-avocado-toast-vegan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Garlic Mushroom Avocado Toast<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/heatherchristo.com\/2013\/01\/24\/spicy-steak-and-avocado-toast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spicy Steak and Avocado Toast<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Or keep it simple&nbsp;and sprinkle on some <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2CDQxrD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">everything bagel seasoning<\/a>.
