This is so interesting! I was never able to get Google Adsense to work for me for some reason, but I recently got Sovrn up and running. I love their easy dashboard and great customer service. I like your idea of coupling it with Google Adsense though, since my fill is at 38% right now. I am going to work on figuring this out. Thanks for your transparency – it helps the rest of us :)

Hey Shelly! That’s a great question and something that used to confuse me to no end :-) The short story is: I don’t have 6 Google Adsense ads, but I do have 6 ads. My ads from Sovrn and Gourmet Ads look very similar to Adsense ads. Gourmet ads wants you to have a maximum of 6 ads total, which is pretty much the norm (so you aren’t one of those really really obnoxious websites with tons of ads). I’m not sure about the rules for if you have a really long page but that’s a really interesting point! Hope this helps :-) Great blog name, by the way!

I’m curious how you are able to have six adsense for content blocks per page? Google’s rules are three content blocks, three links units, and two search boxes maximum per page. I’ve noticed lots of food bloggers do this same thing and have more than three content blocks per page. Did you have to get special permission from Google or are the rules, really per screen page? So if you have a really long page, you get more ads? Thanks in advance and congrats on your earnings, well deserved!

Thanks Natalie! I’ve tried looking up information about Sovrn and how to use it, but there is surprisingly little information about it, especially for people just starting out on it. Thanks Jessie! I hope it continues, too! I say “what in tarnation” way too much- especially in my classroom if students are doing something particularly crazy. It is in those moments that I realize that I have definitely turned into the “weird art teacher” :-)

I don’t have anything meaningful to add BUT I just wanted to say I love that you’re sharing your journey! I’ve been blogging for almost 5 years, but I just started taking my monetization strategy more seriously. The one thing I’ve learned is to put intention behind your blog and good things will happen!
