Just EXCELLENT! The only addition I made was to use 2 cups of chicken bone broth in addition to 4 cups of regular low sodium chicken broth. The taste is more “umami” and so delish!

I made in my instant pot. Didn’t have a ham hock but I used 2 smoked pork chops that i had in the freezer. It was delicious… and I don’t usually like pea soup. I had alot and there is only 2 of us so gave some to my neighbor… she loved it and asked for the recipe.

I have an update. After it sat for 30 min it thickened up. It turned out to be quite delicious. Will make again.

There are a few reasons why this may have happened. The first may be user error with the pressure cooker – if it wasn’t sealed completely, for example, it may not have come up to pressure and not been able to cook. The other thing that may have happened is the split peas were the culprit – sometimes very old beans (beans that have sat on the shelf in your pantry or even at the store for a very long time before using) can take a really long time to cook and require more cooking time. Finally, I’ve had some people make this recipe with whole dried peas instead of split – you need split for the cooking time indicated, as whole will take longer. Hope that helps you get to the bottom of this issue!

Used bone broth and added 1 sweet potato and it turned out perfect also used 1 smoked turkey leg … ty
