Sorry you had a disappointing experience. The flavor profile of tortilla soup and chili are definitely similar – but I always like to add a good squeeze of fresh lime juice to my tortilla soup. That can help distinguish it a bit. When you add the lime juice, maybe add a little more or make sure your lime is super juicy next time. Hope that helps!

Tasted good, sort of, but tasted exactly like thin chili, not its own flavor profile.

Whoops- great catch! You can add it with the chicken broth. You can also just use more chicken broth instead of the water. Updating the recipe now :-)
